The emergence of the zoonotic SARS‑CoV‑2 is paradigmatic of the strict relationship existing between human and animal health, ecosystem condition and human habits. The One Health concept highlights these connections and promotes collaboration between diverse sectors. Veterinarians often drive One Health initiatives and attempt to gain a seat at the table of collaborative efforts. Despite their best efforts and their crucial role in supporting the Public Health authorities during the COVID-19 pandemic, One Health is still far to be realized and unity of intentions between Veterinary Institutes is warranted.

ERFAN Secretariat, in collaboration with the IZSAM, organises the Dialogue “COVID PANDEMIC: THE IMPORTANCE OF VETERINARY COOPERATION”.

Five Istituti Zooprofilattici Sperimentali will take part in the meeting providing the scientific contribution from Italy. The OIE Sub-Regional Representations for Southern Africa and for North Africa will attend the meeting highlighting the high value of networking in achieving ERFAN’s objectives as a project supported by the OIE.

Dr Alessio Lo Russo, Virologist at the IZSAM, is the scientific coordinator of the Dialogue.

The ERFAN Dialogue will take place in English with simultaneous translation into French.
