ERFAN Secretariat presents, in collaboration with Office International des Epizooties – World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE), the inaugural Rift Valley fever online course.

The online course will kick off with a history of RVF on the Afri­can continent and the risk of its introduction in the Mediterranean Basin. The introduction will also cover current RVF work. Other topics include aetiology, epidemiology, vectors and the disease in humans and animals, diagnosis, risk reduction and control.

The event, that will take place from the 8th to the 24th of November 2021, is gathering about 75 guests from  National Veterinary Laboratories, Veterinary schools, Directorate Veterinary Services and Universities. The course is provided in English and is divided into 13 weekly appointments.

Presenters include experts from the University of Pretoria (UP), National Institute of Communicable Diseases (NICD), Agricultural Research Council – Onderstepoort Veterinary Re­search (ARC-OVR) Institute with its OIE Reference Laboratory for RVF, and Istituto Zooprofilattico Sperimentale dell’Abruzzo e del Molise “G.Caporale” in Teramo, Italy.

After successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certifi­cate of course completion from the UP.
