The ERFAN Secretariat is closely monitoring the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19). The health and safety of the colleagues and staff is a top priority. For this reason, in accordance with the coordinators of the Animal Welfare Working Group and the participants in the TC, it is inevitable that the activities scheduled from 15 to 19 June 2020 in Pretoria (South Africa), be postponed to a later date. The new date will fall in the second half of the year 2020.

Purpose and aims

The aim of the training session is to facilitate collaboration between the partners in order to facilitate implementation of OIE animal welfare standards through development of skills and knowledge in the SADC region. This meeting aims to disseminate knowledge and skills, share experiences and allow participants from different countries to learn from one another to collectively gain a better understanding of animal welfare issues in Southern Africa.

Participants

Nine delegates from SADC countries will be invited to participate – from Namibia (two individuals), Botswana, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Mozambique, Malawi, Eswatini and Lesotho (please refer to the attached list of participants – Annexure A).
